In the Carpathian Mountains, Rhododendron flowers bloom throughout some of the valleys. During the years of the Soviet Union, the people of Ukraine could not access the beautiful Rhododendron fields as the path to get to them was blocked by Soviet military checkpoints. Once Ukrainians were free, they were able to view the Rhododendron fields to take in their beauty.
